Route Overview

The B10 Lake Neusiedl Cycle Path forms a 125-kilometer loop around Austria's largest steppe lake, crossing both Austrian and Hungarian territories. The route offers optional shortcuts via ferry connections between Illmitz and Mörbisch am See or Rust and Podersdorf, allowing cyclists to customize their journey.

Trail Characteristics

The route is particularly suitable for families and leisure cyclists, featuring predominantly paved paths with some fine gravel sections that accommodate touring, mountain, and racing bikes. While the Austrian section offers minimal elevation changes, particularly between Mörbisch and Oggau, cyclists should note that the Hungarian stretch between Balf and Fertörákos includes some challenging climbs through vineyard territory.

Highlights and Amenities

The path offers diverse attractions including:

  • Cultural highlights in historic towns like Rust and Mörbisch
  • Traditional wine taverns (Buschenschenken) and cellar lanes
  • Beautiful viewpoints overlooking the lake and Hungarian lowlands
  • Numerous rest areas and refreshment stops
  • Multiple bike and e-bike rental stations
