VeloSkawa - Cycling Route along the Skawa River
Route Overview
The route leads from Sucha Beskidzka through Zembrzyce, Świnna Poręba, Wadowice, Zator, Spytkowice to Skawina, connecting with the Vistula Cycling Route. This route is an alternative version of the path, as the original trail is still under construction.
Implementation Status
The first paved sections in Wadowice were built between 2021-2023. The remaining segments follow local roads and gravel paths. As of early 2025, the original trail is still under construction, with completed sections near the Łączany Canal and partially in Wadowice.
Main Attractions
- Sucha Beskidzka: castle known as "Little Wawel" and the historic "Rome" inn
- Świnna Poręba dam (open for visitors on weekends during summer season)
- Wadowice: historic town center
- Zator: Carp Valley region with fish ponds
- Spytkowice: Renaissance castle
- Łączany-Skawina Canal: 10-kilometer section of paved trail
Difficulty
The route varies in difficulty. The section from Sucha Beskidzka to Zembrzyce is quite challenging, and there are significant elevation changes between Sucha Beskidzka and Świnna Poręba. Some parts of the route share roads with car traffic.
Access
The route has convenient rail connections at stations: Sucha Beskidzka, Zembrzyce, Wadowice, and Skawina.
